A Mower for His Steed
They say that your fondest memories are always from childhood. I may not concur, but I do agree that one of my funniest and scariest memories of my brother was from my childhood. Way back when, we used to live in a house with a large green front porch.
My father always made sure the grass was kept in prime condition. To ensure the evenness of his grass, my father purchased the best lawn mower money could buy at the time. On this particular weekend, my brother; the foolhardy daredevil; revved up the speed of the mower and raced around the lawn like a maniac. He was pretending to be a Red Indian with cowboys on his back, and instead of a horse, he had a lawn mower for his steed.
After a couple of crazed laps around the lawn, he suddenly reared up the lawn mower like you would a horse. The mower was not used to such vigorous exercise and spun out of control. It flipped onto its side and started to spin. The huge sharp blades at the bottom missed my brother's foot by inches. Thank God he was a good runner.
